Every Day Is 'Opening Day' For Christians

No, not to the point where I idolize athletes and/or can never miss a game. I just like the competition involved and the various God-given skills sets that are always on display not to mention those rare moments when a player thanks God for his success and he genuinely means it. A few days ago, Major League Baseball threw out the first pitch to start another "Opening Day" and another MLB Regular Season. That got me thinking about how the name of the game is PRESSURE. In fact, the way some players imploded at the end of the game (costing their team a victory) while others stepped up (earning their team a win) had me prayerfully considering the similarities to the Christian life. Yes, "pressure" is also the "name of the game" when it comes to living a life that's committed to Christ. Please join us for an eye-opening discussion on what we mean by that, and for Biblical truth as to how you can overcome the various pressures of the day-to-day grind and live a victorious Christian life in Jesus Christ. Why does God allow pressures into our lives?

Providence And Perseverance

Last time, we continued talking about the Sovereignty of God, and about the doctrine of "Eternal Security" (or "Once Saved, Always Saved") in relation to Hebrews 6, and demonstrated how a Christian cannot lose their salvation. Today, I began thinking about that fact in relation to the command to "examine yourselves" (2 Corinthians 13:5). How do we reconcile both truths? Is this a contradiction? The answers to those two questions can be found by a close study of "Providence" and "Perseverance" I think. Providence says that the Lord is Sovereign and that He can do whatever He wants, whenever He wants, with His creation. It also means that He -- not man -- is in complete and total control of everything. At the same time, how do we account for all the portions of Scripture that tell us how to live a life that's obedient and pleasing to Him by making the right choices in accordance with His Word? Well, this is connected to a doctrine called Perseverance (or "Perseverance of the Saints"), which argues that although individuals are free and responsible (in a limited sense), they cannot choose salvation of their own accord. Rather, God selected certain individuals before the world began to whom He would draw to faith. According to the Holy Bible, since faith is not something they choose to do, but rather a work that God performs in them, it cannot be walked away from. Thus, Hebrews 12:2 is intricately tied to such a study. We'll be exploring this subject together in this podcast. Please join us!
